Program name

The name of the program is Master of Science in Information Systems. The program is run as an evening program with privately sponsored students. The program is hosted in the department of Information Systems.

Program duration

The duration of the program is two years and it consists of four semesters. The revised curriculum offers two plans: Plan A and Plan B. In Plan A, students are required to take four semesters where the first two semesters in the first year have only course work and the remaining two semesters in the second year have one course unit (seminar series) and an M.Sc. in IS dissertation. In Plan B, students are required to take four semesters where the three semesters have course work while the last semester involves an M.Sc. in Information Systems project.

 

Programme Description

The Master of Science in Information Systems provides world class training, knowledge, and skills in the Information Systems discipline at the Masters level in Uganda. The program focuses on areas such as: the core of information systems (which involves studying relationships between people, processes, and technology in an enterprise context), managing the behavior of an organization towards work systems that are Information Technology (IT) reliant, and managing data and information. The program blends theory and practice into a learning experience that develops skills applicable to solving real-world problems including problems that are complex. The program aims at providing an enduring foundation for future professional and academic growth.
