Profile Summary

Since November 2021, I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Systems at Makerere University, and currently also serving as the Deputy Principal – College of Computing and Information Science. From October 2013 to 2021, I was a Lecturer; and from September 2007 to 2013, I was an Assistant Lecturer in the same Department.

From 2007 to 2011, I pursued a Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics in the Department of Information Science, University of Groningen. My Ph.D. study involved investigating the application of dynamic Bayesian networks in the Natural Language Processing sub-task of machine transliteration.

In October 2006, I earned an M.Sc. in Computer Science (Computer Information Systems option) from the then Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (now called School of Computing and Informatics Technology) of Makerere University.

In November 2003, I earned a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the then Faculty of Technology (now called School of Engineering) of Makerere University.

Since 2011, I have been an avid follower of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) from platforms like Coursera and Udacity. In October 2015, I achieved a verified online non-credit Specialization in Data Mining from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I have also participated in and completed several online computing-related course units.
